I am 60, have MS, am an avid cook, love making candles (soy) and watching the endless parade of Nature outside my home. I treat the MS with supplements and LDN, I do not use any of the C.R.A.B. MS meds, we don't get along well. I was married for 13 years, we were together for 15. We are now divorced. Sad, that. I do still love him, but ONLY as the father of my baby. Better to keep it civil, hurts the child(ren) less that way, but is oh-so-hard to do sometimes.

Katrina

My eyes cannot believe the total destruction. The devastation. The horror. And it's only the beginning! There are not enough prayers, not enough candles. I really don't have words, except to ask...where are all the countries out there that we've helped NOW? Just because we arent a "third world" country means we don't need help?
On a personal level, the hurricane has affected us in a big way. We have to move. Our landlord's family lived in New Orleans, which meand they are now presumed homeless. SO he needs this part of the house for them, and we have to move. What they'll live on I don't know since our rent is his main source of income, and there wil be more mouths to feed.I'll let y'all know what I find to move into when I find something. I don't really care *where* it is, even.

house hunt

house hunt
Well we're NOT moving to Elkins! For one thing the house was a slum, and the neighbours SO close I got claustrophobia just being there, it was overrun with fleas and the owner was a disgusting, dirty little man with dollar signs in his eyes...he kept telling us all the thing he was *going* to do..well, why not DO them BEFORE putting the house up? Also, the drive was strictly from Hell!!! UP the mountain, DOWN the mountain, hairpin curves...good thing none of us get carsick!!! I got quite the aerobic workout just trying to stay in my seat! And Now our esteemed landlord tells us he is going to sell our house!!!! *sheesh* So now I'm househunting for real..before it was a "maybe" and an "if", now it's a "must". Of course, he'll pay hell trying to get his price so we're safe for a bit...meantime Rob is getting his floorcare biz off and running so hopefully soon $$ won't be an issue...

Neuro visit

Well I just blew my poor Neurologist away...I walked in, no walking stick, minimal limp, smiling, rested...he said Well I guess you've made MY day! I asked him, during the visit, how many lesions I have and where they are, turns out I only have two, one is 6x8mm, the other 10mm round. And they are totally inactive. The other thing that really surprised him is that the last time I saw him he Dx'd me with pretty severe carpal tunnel. And it is cured. No surgery either. He was astonished. I told him I've been taking Bromelain, and it is gone He said But we have concrete proof you have it, I said HAD. hehehe. Thank you friend Challis for telling me about Bromelain. I told him I do still have fatigue, and as a reault sometimes sleep as much as 12 hours a day. He said Now you're trying to make me jealous! Apparently he had the night from hades in the hospital. poor guy.

Home!

Well it looks like we might be moving. Our landlord "hired" Rob to fix some things in the house we're currently in, and the more he fixes the more crap he's finding. SO the landlord said he'll let Rob continue to fix it up then he's going to sell it (good luck). SO I looked in the Elkins WV classifieds, and tomorrow we're going to go look at a HUGE house for rent, 4-5 BR, 2 FULL baths, the downstairs one even still has the old clawfoot bathtub!!! Full wood-lined attic, hardwood floors, front and back enclosed porches, HUGE rooms, HUGE kitchen, pantry...sounds like an ideal place, and it's only 500 a month!!! We're paying more then that for the 1/2 house we're in, with the aforementioned landlord occupying the other half (oh yay). Why Elkins? Well, it is near a BIG forest, in the hills, the weather is cooler, I did a search for ideal places for me and it was third on the list, so we decided to investigate. And we're going to go tomorrow and look at this house, and maybe move in on the first. It will be SO nice to NOT have trais on *both* sides of the house...peace and QUIET!!!

lately

I know I haven't been posting much lately, not much has been going on. Rob hurt his hand and had to quit his job, and I am glad he did, they were working him waay too mamy hours and *not* paying him for them. He is going to start up his own floorcare biz (again, he used to have one years ago, before we met) and I am supporting that idea bigtime! Right now he is helping our landlord fix up the house, before winter, so maybe our heating costs will be more tolerable.
I got a copy of the game Age of Mythology and have been playing it alot...when I'm not playing it, Rob is LOL. it is great fun and not as fast-paced as Diablo (which we've been playing for *years*!!!!)
It is finally cooler, hopefully the really hot weather has passed..I wouldn't mind, oh say, 3-4 months of this...
MS has been pretty much status quo, for which I am grateful.
Oh yeh, and our friend Jimmy is coming to live here, not with us, but localy, he will stay with us at first then find his own place. He is quite versatile as far as what he can do for work so it won't take him long to establish himself. He is a good cook, worked in restaurants for years, and also can work in the forge with Rob, they can make sellable stuff there, and he is a tattoo "artist" and there's always work there if you're good, and he is. He is getting a divorece after about 20 years together, he's never really lived outside of the "North country" so is in for a major culture shock. Up there "fast food" is at least 30-40 miles away...I mean that, we lived there for years so I know first hand...

Jennings and Spacepeople

How sad. For all of us. I am So sorry to hear of Peter Jennings passing. As a long time ABC viewer, I always knew I could go there for "breaking news" and have my old friend there to see us all through it, whatever it was! I was sad when we first heard of his illness, and hoped beyond hope that they could cure him and see him again. Not destined to happen. Rest in Peace. old friend, gentle man in all ways.
The space shuttle is worrying me. When it went up, I watched, having a really bad feeling about it. Then they cancel the whole program, with them up there!! Then all those problems, and now they can't land for another day. When they were launching it I told Rob that this launch would be the end of the program...and it is. I pray they make it home safely.
MS...well, it is cooler, finally, for at least a few days.I am having a few symptoms, burning in my right shoulder and back, numbness around my mouth, burning in my scalp, again the right side. Probably mostly from the fatigue, which the heat has intensified. I am talking with my GP about LDN, since my neuro is still resisiting. He says "I'm trying to be open minded" but he isn't. He isn't being open minded, and he isn't trying, and if he is, it ain't working!!! So I approached my GP who is now looking into it.
I also got freecycled some excersize equipment, and am using it (not daily, but on the days when I can, I do) It is too early yet to tell if it is helping, but if I don't do it anyway, it sure won't help!! Time will tell....I am going to really try to keep up with it!!!

Funkshun

We went for a ride today, and stopped by a Wendy's for a Frosty. Rob *loves* Frostys. He had a big one, I had a small. Robbin had a chocolate milk. I ate some of mine, and gave the rest to Robbin. I looked back in the passenger window, and saw him eating it, look of total concentration on his wee face...I was in awe at how beautiful he is, how perfect...and wondered for the umptheenth time how something So perfect came from *me*. I just sat and watched, and marvelled. I am so flawed, he is so perfect...HOW did this happen? God/dess surely works Miracles.
